Mamre Road Structure Plan

16/12/2019

As the Mamre Rd Structure Plan (https://bit.ly/2YPTxM8) exhibition draws to a close this week, we can’t help but cast our mind to what the plan might look like in final form.

A recent briefing highlighted that affected and interested land owners may not share the same vision for the intermodal corridor as DPIE and TfNSW. It now comes down to the effectiveness of consultants to make the case for alternatives.

Some options worth exploring in finalising the intermodal corridor element of the Structure Plan include:

- Reducing the size in consideration of capacity in existing and planned intermodal facilities such as St Mary's and Moorebank;

- Revisiting the orientation and location in consideration of the configuration of the future freight network and the length of the trains likely to use the facility; and

- Providing for intermodal facility related uses to be permissible within the intermodal corridor to activate the land in advance of the WSFC being operational.

Exploring this with affected and interested parties and industry alike seems appropriate to ensure the activation of these critical employment lands, supporting the target of 200k jobs in Western Sydney.

Submissions close 18 December - get in contact with our team if you haven’t yet finalised your submission.
